True Albino Teacher is a strain of Psilocybe cubensis known to carry all the qualities of the famous Golden Teacher strain but with albino traits (no pigmentation). This shroom produces pure white fruiting bodies of above-average potency.

This strain was developed by the Shroomery user named “Jik Fibs,” who isolated the albino variation when cultivating Golden Teachers. He cloned five albinos that popped up during a grow and cultivated the spores until he produced three successive generations of the variant.

Although it’s a little more demanding than the Golden Teacher strain to grow, with some knowledge of cultivation, several flushes of white shrooms can be produced without much trouble.

The spores are now available from select vendors across the United States and Canada.

History of the True Albino Teacher Strain

Like many other strains of Psilocybe cubensis, there’s little information on the history of True Albino Teacher. However, we do know a little bit about its origins.

Psilocybe cubensis mushrooms

Supposedly, “Jik Fibs,” a frequent user of the Shroomery forum, had five albino fruits pop up from a Golden Teacher cultivation. He then took clones from the mutation and swabbed them. Over the next year, he cultivated the strain until he produced three generations of full albino shrooms.

The genetics were then made available to the wider market, and reliable albino spore samples could be purchased from a small selection of online vendors.

True Albino Teacher Potency & Psilocybin Content

True Albino Teacher mushrooms are said to have above-average potency — slightly higher than it’s parent, the original Golden Teacher strain.

Over the past few years, 4 samples of True Albino Teacher shrooms have been submitted for testing at the Psilocybin Cup.

The average of these 4 samples is 0.81% psilocybin and 0.06% psilocin — for a total tryptamine concentration of 0.87%. This would technically classify this strain as “average,” but we believe most users can expect slightly higher than this. The strongest sample submitted to the cup had 1.11% total tryptamines, and we’ve seen other, privately tested samples as high as 1.4%.

Another sample of True Albino Teacher, cultivated by “Socal.Myco,” had an overall tryptamine content of 0.99% and a psilocybin level of 0.92%.

Another, submitted by the cultivator “Little Tree” submitted the second TAT sample and produced a tryptamine level of 1.07% and a psilocybin content of 0.97%.

For reference, we consider the average Psilocybe cubensis strain to hold somewhere between 0.5% and 0.9% total tryptamines.

Variations & Genetic Relatives

True Albino Teacher has a few genetic relatives and variations. The Golden Teacher strain has been a popular choice among mycologists and cultivators for decades, and a few off-shoots have appeared over the years, including TAT itself.

Here are a few strains from the Golden Teacher series:

1. Golden Teacher (GT)

Golden Teacher is the mother strain of the True Albino Teacher variant, among others. It’s one of the most common strains of Psilocybin cubensis available and a popular choice for beginner cultivators.

Circulating since the 1980s, Golden Teacher has been around for a long time. Its excellent contamination resistance, aggressive colonization, and above-average potency have made it so popular in the mushroom community.

2. Golden Emperor (GE)

Golden Emperor is an isolation of the Golden teacher strain. It’s highly similar to the original strain but produces slightly larger fruiting bodies.

This is another excellent choice for beginners with similar potency and the same ease of cultivation.

3. Yeti Strain (YETI)

The Yeti strain was created by the same person that developed the True Albino Teacher variety — Jik Fibs. This strain was supposedly a genetic isolation of True Albino Teacher. However, its origins aren’t particularly clear. It’s not strictly albino and can develop yellow or gold colorations on the caps as the fruiting bodies mature.

It shares many qualities with the original Golden Teacher strain. The fruiting bodies have above-average potency, and the strain is said to be relatively easy to cultivate — perhaps easier than True Albino Teacher.

Where to Buy True Albino Teacher Spores

True Albino Teacher spores are relatively hard to come by. This is a rare strain that, unfortunately, is a little elusive, but there are a few vendors that you can purchase spore samples from. However, currently, genetics are only available in Canada and the United States. We haven’t found any vendors that will ship to Europe.

Another issue with True Albino Teachers is that the spores are only available in the form of swabs (in the United States, at least). This makes it a difficult strain for beginners — it’s not as simple to grow spores in this form as with sterile, spore-filled syringes.

We’ve found spore syringes containing True Albino Teacher genetics from one known Canada-based spore vendor.

If you’re a cultivator with some experience growing mushrooms from prints and swabs, here’s where you can find True Albino Teacher genetics:

In the United States of America, TAT spores are available as spore swabs from Mushlove Genetics. However, spore syringes may soon become available from the vendor as the strain grows in popularity.

In Canada, you’ll find True Albino Teacher spore syringes from Spores Lab. This is the only reliable spore vendor we’ve discovered that sells TAT in spore syringes.

How to Grow True Albino Teacher Shrooms

True Albino Teacher is a strain that isn’t recommended for the beginner grower. However, TAT can provide fruitful results for the cultivator with a bit more knowledge and experience.

Due to the sparsity of True Albino Teacher spores and the fact that many samples come in the form of swabs, it can be challenging to grow. However, spore syringes are now becoming more available, making this strain more accessible to the intermediate cultivator.

If you can source True Albino Teacher spores in the form of sterile spore syringes, you’ll be able to cultivate them using a relatively easy method called “PF-Tek” — this is the easiest way to cultivate psilocybin-containing mushrooms.

This method involves the inoculation of sterilized jars full of a growing substrate. These jars are then left to colonize with mycelium for two to three weeks. Once the jars have fully colonized, they’re transferred to a fruiting chamber where they will begin to produce mushrooms over several flushes before succumbing to mold.

The mushrooms are then harvested as they mature. They can then be consumed fresh or easily dried for long-term storage.

Similar Strains (Other Albinos)

True Albino Teacher is an intriguing albino strain of Psilocybe cubensis. However, it’s not the only albino strain available on the market. Some other albino strains are less demanding, better for the beginner, and/or maybe more potent than TAT.

Here are some other Albino cube strains to look into:

1. Albino A+ (AA+)

Albino A+ is an albino variety of A-Strain (also known as A+). This strain produces potent mushrooms that are pale white in color. This isn’t considered a true albino because the spores carry pigment.

This albino variety shares many traits with the original A-Strain. It produces large fruiting bodies that sporulate heavily. It’s a relatively easy strain to cultivate and is a wise choice among beginners that want to cultivate a pure white strain.

2. Albino Penis Envy (APE)

Albino Penis Envy is the albino version of the popular Penis Envy strain. It has the same growth characteristics as the original and is said to be just as potent.

This strain looks identical to Penis Envy aside from the fact that the fruiting bodies are pale white in color. Unfortunately, this strain is prone to aborts and isn’t recommended for the beginner. However, if you can get through the first flush, a good yield of super-potent albino shrooms can be produced.

3. White Rabbit (WR)

White Rabbit is a cross between Albino Penis Envy and Moby Dick — both strains that are famous for their high psilocybin content. This strain is surprisingly easy to grow, and providing the cultivator has some experience, they should be able to produce several flushes of ghostly-white highly-potent shrooms.

This strain is up and coming in the magic mushroom world, and some speculate that it could take on the likes of the original Penis Envy strain and Tidal Wave in terms of its potency.

4. Albino Treasure Coast (ATC)

Albino Treasure Coast is the albino variety of the classic Treasure Coast strain.

Supposedly, the infamous mycologist “Mr. G” developed this strain, but its true origins are still unclear. Whoever created it, it’s a welcome addition to the market. Spores can be hard to find, and cultivation can be challenging, but those willing to take on the challenge are greatly rewarded with pure white shrooms of above-average potency.

Strains vs. Species: What’s the Difference?

When we talk about magic mushrooms such as True Albino Teacher, we talk about strains of a species called Psilocybe cubensis.

Although there are many different psychedelic mushroom species, the most commonly cultivated is the cubensis species. Within this species exists hundreds of different strains, such as Golden Teacher, Penis Envy, and Koh Samui.

Although these strains are vastly different, they all belong to the same genus and species. This may sound a little confusing, but it’s quite simple.

Several species from all six kingdoms (Eubacteria, Archaea, Protista, Fungi, Plantae, and Animalia) exist in nature. Strains, also known as genetic variants, occur naturally through cross-cultivation, pollination, and natural cross-breeding. However, humans also create new strains by selectively crossing genetic variants of a single species.

There are hundreds of different strains in the Psilocybe cubensis species of the fungi kingdom. Some of these strains have been discovered, and others, such as True Albino Teacher and Penis Envy, were selectively cross-cultivated for our benefit.

We, as humans, selectively create new strains of Psilocybe cubensis and ornamental and medicinal plants, such as cannabis, to create different varieties. We may create a new strain for different chemical traits or looks.
