Category: Tropane Alkaloids
Tropane alkaloids are a group of psychoactive alkaloids characterized by a central tropane ring structure. The most common tropane alkaloids are hyoscyamine, scopolamine, and atropine.
These alkaloids are soporific in lower doses (induce a state of dream-like haziness, sedation, and confusion), deliriant in moderate doses, and lethal in higher doses.
Tropane alkaloids are most abundant in the nightshade family of plants, which contains powerful hallucinogenic (and poisonous) species including mandrake, datura, hellbane, belladonna, and Brugmansia.
None of these substances are considered safe and should never be attempted for any reason.
Other notable members in this family include non-toxic plants like tomato, potato, and eggplant.
Mandrake is a real plant. It's toxic in higher doses and powerfully deliriant in lower doses. Learn about the strange world of the mandrake root.
Datura is a genus of hallucinogenic plants in the nightshade family. The hallucinations from this plant are often extreme & nightmarish.
