There are few places as freeing as music festivals. Psychedelic music festivals can be even more liberating — with more than just music on offer.
While any event centered around music and art is usually a good place to engage with psychedelics, the quintessential psytrance music festival — usually involving a few nights camping — is considered the holy grail of the psychedelic experience.
Below are some of the biggest and best psychedelic-friendly music festivals around the world.
Please note: Psychedelics are illegal in most parts of the world, and while many festivals turn a blind eye to illicit drug use, there’s still an inherent risk to attending or taking drugs at these events. It’s also common to see a police presence at these events, but they generally only step in if they see people “selling” drugs.

This is a completely open-air festival, so everyone has plenty of space to move around, chill, and dance. There will also be a community fire at the event — the organizers ask everyone to bring some wood to contribute to the blaze.

Psy-Fi is a psychedelic festival featuring psytrance and other techno genres. It’s held in the Netherlands — Europe’s “soft-drug capital.” Previous years have been good, with five stages featuring a variety of psychedelic and chillout genres.
Unfortunately, the Dutch Court revoked Psy-Fi’s permit last year, and they’re fighting to get the permit back for this year. The festival has historically been met with backlash from the government because “it promotes the use of psychedelic substances” — something the Dutch government wants to avoid considering their relaxed drug laws.
The festival hasn’t been confirmed for this year, but the Psy-Fi team and its lawyers are working hard to bring the popular festival back this year. Let’s hope they make it happen.

This festival grew from a small gathering of friends to a cast of thousands of people celebrating life, music, art, and culture. It takes place in the town of Lexton, where the local Pyrenees community and the traditional landowners welcome the organizers and festival goers. Rainbow Serpent helps raise money for the local community and the environment that surrounds the festival’s location.
This year, multiple stages will host a diverse array of music, theater, influential speakers, and indigenous content. There will also be an art gallery, a live painting studio, a permaculture garden, and yoga, relaxation, and healing areas. Music genres include psytrance, techno, glitch, dub, reggae, and chill.

Burning Man is the pinnacle of psychedelic events. Every year, tens of thousands of like-minded people gather together in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada to indulge in art, expression, creativity, and tribal activities.
Burning Man isn’t really about the music; it’s more of a traditional “spiritual” gathering about self-expression and the rejection of capitalism and corporatism. However, the sound of Burning Man is “Playa Tech” — a genre of tech house that’s tribal, spiritual, and trance-inducing.
Burning Man is essentially a tribal city that pops up once a year for people dedicated to celebrating cultural differences, creativity, self-expression, and knowledge while releasing social stigma.

These parties are famous for being insanely lively. There’s lots of cheap alcohol, great Thai street food, and dancing non-stop until the sun rises.

This five-day psychedelic beach festival is held in Northern Greece by a group of “psychedelic freedom fighters” that are determined to bring the vibe back to the outdoor party scene. This is a psytrance and techno festival with two main stages and an additional stage for speakers and healers.
There will also be an art gallery, a free art/creativity area, and a healing area with meditation, gong therapy, yoga, and more. Lectures will also take place at the festival, with talks on permaculture, forest foods, psychedelic substances, plant medicines, and vegan lifestyles.
Camping on the beach, by car, or in a designated shaded area is included in the ticket price, so bring your tent. There are also beach pitches for campervans and caravans. Built-in toilets, showers, and guarded lockers are also available at the festival.
There’s a limited supply of tickets — a total of 4,000.

Tribal Gathering is an annual event that occurs in Panama. This festival is a Latin American art, music, indigeneity, and nature experience. Local tribal communities are brought together, and indigenous tribal representatives host talks on many important topics.
There will be plenty of performances, acts, indigenous rituals, workshops, and dance floors at this year’s event, but the “main event” hasn’t been set up by the organizers.
This year, on October 14, Panama will experience an annular eclipse, where the moon covers the center of the sun, leaving an annulus of light (ring of fire) surrounding it. This festival coincides with the celestial event, and the organizers have chosen the perfect spot in the highlands on the southern side of Panama to witness it.
The organizers hope to keep this festival a “family-sized” gathering, so get your tickets soon.
